DIY Dollar Christmas Shadowbox

It’s a brand new week with a brand new Dazzlingdollardiy challenge! This week is Deck the Halls and any decoration for your house is acceptable! I made this Christmas shadowbox for under $10! If you’d like to play along for the chance to be featured on all our amazing host’s IG accounts go here for the details! The Lily Sage IG If you want to see what this ugly blue wooden box turns into…stick around!

I had this old crate that at one point I had painted blue but it was SO dinged up and missing a holding piece in the corner so it wasn’t steady enough to used as as kind of crate or tray. So I painted it a dark brown, I used a stain so some of the blue would come through and give it that weathered look

Next up was silver and iridescent white glitter. I put a fine layer of mod podge down on the bottom of the tray and while it was still tacky sprinkled a light layer of both glitters until I was happy with it

I found this bag of wooden snowflakes from Michael’s and hot glued them on top of the dried glitter

Added in some of the bottle brush trees, also from Michael’s and thinned out cotton balls for snow

More trees and this sweet little mom and baby fawn just about finished the look! You can certainly stop here, I think it’s still really cute but I wanted something a warmer

So I added warm fairy lights to give it a pretty glow! I wish it photographed better but the lights make all the glitter twinkle like real snow flurries! Plus my daughter is absolutely enchanted with it!

Hop on over to my IG account to play along! Don’t forget to upload your DIY Dollar crafts by tonight so we can go through them all and pick the winner!
