Easy Valentine Day Dessert Table

We’re really not Valentine Day celebrators in our house, horrible huh?! We usually celebrate a few days before or after so we beat the crazy crowds and the hiked up prices but this year I wanted to do something that included Brielle. I had grand visions of a darling Valentine’s Day tea party with tiny sandwiches and garnishes cut out into mini hearts but somehow life got the better of me and suddenly I realized that Valentine’s Day was in THREE days! So the magnificent tea party was scrapped and we all enjoyed a mini Valentine celebration while we watched the Valentine episode of Vamperina. Haha, you know you’re a parent when you’re combining Valentine’s Day with Disney Junior. I kept it super simple with red velvet cupcakes, sparkling cider and strawberries, ya know for a bit of healthy eating. You can’t have Valentine’s Day without roses so I incorporated them into my strawberry tower, put the rest into a vase, and grabbed some of my regular decorations to mix in. I couldn’t let go of the mini heart garnish though so I stuck them on the rims of the glasses instead….woot, compromise!

I have a funny story of those roses though. Brielle grabbed a few, plucked off all the petals and the next thing I know she’s carted them off into her bath. It was so funny seeing this bizarre combination of rose petals floating on the water along with her Fisher Price princesses and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse figurines. Haha, I seriously love the preschool stage! However, I do NOT love that now we have 23 Valentine gifts to create and give out! Well, I better go finish said gifts! šŸ˜‰

Adult 80’s Party

It was my husband, Scott’s, birthday last week. Late December birthdays are so hard! They always seem to get wrapped up into Christmas or NYE so I try to make his really special! This year I decided we’d head back to the 80’s but have it all 80’s video game or TV show centered to make it more masculine! It was seriously so dang fun and really time consuming. For hours, I looked up SO many popular 80’s food items to make sure they were accurate as well as all the characters used on the food tags. I also made all the signs, banner, centerpieces and food name tags and those were a lot of work too but all in all it turned out Like Totally Rad! Plus, most everyone played along, dressing up in their best 80’s attire. Check out the details below!

I got most of my color inspiration for the party out of this Pac Man banner so lots of yellow, pinks, turquoise, red and I added some bright green through out as well. I used black quite liberally because it really popped out those bright colors!

Girl Reindeer Party

Brielle has been begging me for a playdate with a few of her friends and when I asked her what kind she wanted she quickly replied “PINK”! I’ve seen so many amazing Rudolph the Reindeer parties this year that I thought it’d be fun to do one too but instead of the traditional red and blues I’ve been seeing I’d seriously girl it up! It reminds me of Clarice, his girlfriend. I kept my palette to light browns, pink, sage green and gold and it was the perfect little girl’s party!

Festive Dollar Store Tablescape

It’s week 3 in our #DazzlingDollarDIY challenge (click here to check out all the entries of my co-hosts and the ones who are playing along!) and this week’s theme was Seasons Eating. I decided to put together a Christmas dollar tablescape. Meaning everything but the large plate and runner were literally dollars a piece! If you want to see where I purchased each item, pieced it together and a mini tutorial on how I made the snowflake napkin ring check out below!
